Craftsman – Wood Fabrication & Shopfitting

Purpose of the role
  • To fabricate, assemble and install high-quality retail displays, fixtures, furniture and shopfitting solutions that meet Red Fox Create's design, technical and quality standards.
  • The role is responsible for producing professionally finished products, supporting successful on-site installations, and contributing to the safe, efficient and timely delivery of projects.
Key requirements & outputs of the role
  • Perform skilled fabrication work in the construction, forming, framing, and finishing of products.
  • Select, prepare and work with a variety of materials including wood, MDF, plywood, acrylic, metal and related substrates.
  • Construct, install, maintain, and repair products as required.
  • Operate tools, machinery and equipment safely and in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, sketches, and work orders accurately.
  • Identify fabrication, installation and site-related challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Work effectively to meet production schedules and product deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and workmanship quality.
  • Ensure all work meets Red Fox Create quality standards, technical specifications and client requirements.
  • Perform heavy physical labour as required.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships with colleagues, supervisors and other departments.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area in accordance with company standards.
  • Adhere to all health, safety and environmental requirements, policies and procedures, and contribute to a safe working enviroment.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of Red Fox Create, as well as legislative requirements.
  • Proactively communicate project, fabrication or site-related issues that may impact quality, safety or project timelines.

Shopfitting and Site Installation 

  • Assemble, install and fit shopfitting components, retail fixtures and custom-built displays on-site.
  • Take accurate site measurements and verify dimensions prior to manufacture and installation.
  • Interpret installation drawings, site plans and shopfitting layouts.
  • Use appropriate fixing methods and installation hardware.
  • Identify and resolve installation challenges while maintaining design intent.
  • Complete installations according to client specifications and Red Fox Create quality standards.
  • Communicate site conditions, risks and delays to the appropriate person.
  • Work effectively within client environments and comply with site-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain professional conduct when interacting with clients, contractors and retail staff.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Any carpentry, cabinetry, joinery, shopfitting, CNC machining, printing, electrical courses / certification, or working towards, would be an asset.
  • 5+ years’ experience in related field.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Ability to take accurate site measurements and translate them into practical installation solutions.
  • Ability to problem-solve to achieve design intent.
  • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to work evenings, on call and weekends when requested.
  • Periodic travel may be required. 

Physical Demands

  • Frequent lifting of materials.
  • Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
Salary
  • Market related commensurate with qualifications and experience.
