The Technical Cost Estimator plays a crucial role in assessing and analysing the costs associated with technical projects or products. They are responsible for evaluating various aspects of a project, including materials, labour, equipment, and other resources, to provide accurate cost estimates. This role requires a strong understanding of technical concepts, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.

• A Diploma or degree in a related field is an advantage.
• At least 3-5 years cost estimation experience, pref. in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in using CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experience in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino3D).
• Proficiency in desktop publishing software (e.g., CorelDraw, Versa Works).
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point).

• Cost Analysis:
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of project requirements, including technical specifications, Drawings, and CAD designs, to determine the scope of work and associated costs.
• Resource Evaluation:
  • Evaluate and quantify the resources required for a project, including materials, equipment, and labour, considering factors such as quantity, quality, and availability.
• Vendor and Supplier Management:
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes and pricing information for materials and services, negotiate favourable terms, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Cost Estimation:
  • Utilize specialized software and tools to develop detailed cost estimates, considering factors such as labour rates, overhead costs, and project timelines.
• Risk Assessment:
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs, such as market fluctuations, regulatory changes, or unforeseen technical challenges, and incorporate risk mitigation strategies into cost estimates.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare clear and concise cost estimates, reports, and documentation for internal stakeholders, clients, and project teams, ensuring accuracy and transparency in all communications.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to cost estimation and project management, and actively seek opportunities to improve processes and methodologies.
