A Spray Painter is responsible for applying coatings, paints, stains, and finishes to a variety of surfaces using specialized spray painting equipment. This role involves preparing surfaces, mixing paints, and ensuring a smooth, even finish while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in spray painting or related field (optional but advantageous).
• Previous experience in spray painting, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of paint types, coatings, and finishing techniques.

Skills:

• Proficient with spray painting tools and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to assess and correct defects in paintwork.
• Knowledge of safety standards and ability to work in a safe environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in various environments (e.g., indoors and outdoors).
• Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment as needed.
• Manual dexterity for handling spray equipment and making detailed applications.

Surface Preparation:

• Clean, sand, and mask surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion.
• Repair or treat surfaces to remove defects before applying paint.
• Set up spray equipment, including air and pressure settings.

Paint Application:

• Mix paints, stains, or coatings as required, ensuring proper consistency.
• Use spray guns to apply coatings to surfaces evenly and smoothly.
• Ensure the correct technique is used to avoid overspray or uneven coatings.

Quality Control:

• Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring there are no defects in the paint job.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and client specifications.
• Sand, buff, and finish surfaces as needed to improve the final look.

Maintenance:

• Maintain and clean spray guns and other equipment regularly.
• Monitor inventory levels of paints and supplies, reporting when reordering is needed.

Health and Safety:

• Follow all safety protocols, including wearing protective equipment (e.g., masks, gloves, goggles).
• Ensure proper ventilation in workspaces to minimize exposure to harmful fumes.
• Dispose of paint waste according to environmental regulations.
